The Dallas Vigilantes traveled to Chicago last Saturday to face the first place Rush. Dallas came into the game with a 10-game losing streak. The only game they won this year was on April 30th against Oklahoma City. Chicago played here earlier this season and won 63-56. Dallas receivers Kenny Henderson and Derek Lee both went over the 1,000 yard mark for the season the previous week against Tampa Bay.
Dallas scored first when Kenny Henderson caught a 24 yard pass from Collin Drafts. Henderson got knocked over the wall but held onto the ball. On 4th down, later in the first quarter, Drafts hit Matt Fields to put Dallas up 14-0. This game was close all night. Larry Brackins caught a touchdown pass with a little over five minutes left in the game as Dallas trailed 44-42. On the ensuing kickoff, the ball took a weird bounce off the net and was recovered for a Dallas touchdown by Jason Harmon. Chicago scored with 41 seconds left and got the 2 point conversion. Dallas had the ball 1st and goal with 14 seconds left, but after several attempts for the end zone, they settled for a field goal and overtime. Brackins scored on the Vigilantes first possession. The game ended when Delenall Reid intercepted (his second of game) the ball and returned it for a touchdown. Dallas won 65-52.
This Saturday night is the final home game of the year. They play Utah, who has only one win this season. The Vigilantes are offering $5 general admission tickets for this game. At halftime, the Vigilantes will retire the #13 worn by Clint Dolezel, who finished his career with the Dallas Desperados. He retired in 2008 after 13 seasons and a few records: the all-time Arena Football leader in passing yards with 44,559, passing touchdowns with 931 and eight seasons in a row with 3,000 yards passing.
